Help & FAQ
Answers to common questions about RoleSignal.
What kind of interviews are supported?
RoleSignal currently supports three types of interviews: technical interviews (focused on algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving approaches), behavioral interviews (situational and experience-based questions), and system design interviews (architecture and scalability discussions). Each type can be adjusted for different experience levels.
How long is each session?
Each session is designed to be approximately 15 minutes. This includes a brief introduction (2-3 minutes), the main interview portion (10-12 minutes), and a closing (1-2 minutes). We chose this length to be long enough for meaningful practice while short enough to fit into a busy schedule.
Do I need special audio equipment?
No special equipment is required. Any standard microphone will work, including built-in laptop microphones. For the best experience, we recommend using headphones to reduce echo and finding a reasonably quiet environment. But you can practice with whatever setup you have available.
Is my audio recorded or stored?
During a session, your audio is processed in real-time to generate responses. After the session, a text transcript is stored so you can review what you said. Audio recordings are not permanently stored. You can read our full Privacy Policy for complete details on data handling.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. This includes your session transcripts, feedback history, and any personal information. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Who is RoleSignal best suited for?
RoleSignal is designed for software developers and engineers preparing for technical interviews. This includes people actively job searching, those who want to stay sharp between job searches, career switchers entering tech, and bootcamp graduates preparing for their first interviews. The experience level settings help tailor the difficulty appropriately.
How realistic is the AI interviewer?
The AI interviewer is designed to simulate the flow of a real interview conversation. It asks follow-up questions based on your responses, probes for details when answers are vague, and maintains a professional but conversational tone. It won't perfectly replicate every human interviewer, but it provides a realistic enough environment to build useful skills.
Can I use RoleSignal on mobile?
RoleSignal works in modern web browsers, including mobile browsers. However, the experience is optimized for desktop or laptop use where you have a stable microphone setup. Mobile can work for practice on the go, but a desktop setup is recommended for the best experience.
How often should I practice?
That depends on your goals and timeline. For active job searchers, 2-3 sessions per week can help build and maintain momentum. For general skill maintenance, even one session every couple of weeks can be valuable. The key is consistency over intensity.
